Man has Fast Food Junk removed from his lung

A North Carolina man is recovering after a piece of plastic from Wendy's was removed from his left lung after a year of coughing spells and fatigue.

Doctors say a North Carolina man who was plagued with coughing fits should be OK now that they have removed a 1-inch piece of plastic from his lung, where it had rested since he apparently inhaled it nearly two years ago while sucking down a soft drink at a Wendy's restaurant.

Doctors at Duke University Medical Center say the plastic fragment of an eating utensil — with the Wendy's logo still legible on the side — was likely to blame for the coughing, fatigue and pneumonia spells that plagued John Manley for almost two years.

They pulled the fast-food foreign object from Manley's left lung during a Sept. 10 surgery. The 50-year-old Wilmington resident said he probably inhaled it while gulping a drink from Wendy's.

A man who gave himself a DIY circumcision using nail clippers was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.

The young man had to be rushed to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. The wound was disinfected to cleanse it before he was given a bed in an observation ward. After some hours they were both sitting up in bed.

A medical spokesman said "This is something we would advise men NEVER to attempt. The results can be quite horrific and long-lasting and can affect on a man's sexual performance." Some may say it's natural selection. The survival of the least crazy!

"Using a pair of nail clippers must have caused excruciating pain, even if he did have a few drinks beforehand." Rum 'n Coke perhaps!
