Open Zoos benefit both people and animals

Singapore Zoo has a compelling alternative approach to wildlife. It is an "open concept" zoo, which means the animals are enclosed in natural settings and mainly separated from visitors by moats or low fences rather than iron bars. The result of this approach is an incredibly immediate experience of the animals, as if you were in the wild with them.

Grab yourself an animal-feeding schedule and you can help to ply the elephants with crate-loads of bananas. You can also have an unforgettable picture taken of yourself holding a snake or a chimpanzee and if you are really unlucky your mates will get a fabulous picture of you being held for ransom by gorillas!
